Like many artists, I am passionate about helping to protect the environment. Living in the West Country makes me aware of the important role that our wonderful hedgerows play. They act as corridors for wildlife as well as playing a crucial part in stopping the flow of water from the hills to the Levels. Tree roots act as a conduit for water to penetrate deep into the earth in winter and I am proud to campaign for HEDGE TREES PLEASE (www.hedgetreesplease.com)

Works of art need to be a feast for the eyes and appeal to the senses. This is their “outer” life. They also need an “inner” life to connect to the intellect. Art has the power to inspire and teach; I feel fortunate that I can use my art as a tool to communicate some ways we can help the environment. In a small way each of us can make a difference.

As Rosa Romani wisely said, “Think globally, act locally and feel deeply”.
